Latest Windows-based mobile phone likely will be support more than single core processor. Android smartphone has been support quad-core processor while Windows Phone 7 seems to still with single-core.
In general, devices with dual-core processors can run better than single-core, such as Microsoft with Intel on laptop products. So it is possible Windows Phone 8 will support more than one core processor.
Rob Chandhok, SVP and president of Qualcomm Internet services confirm that dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor has been certified for Windows Phone 8.
Even with dual core, doesn’t mean that the 2 core will be used. It may be only one core used, while the other is turned off.
But if you look at the Android smartphone market, many Android device has begun using quad-core processor, it seems Microsoft didn’t want to lag far away from their rivals. Most likely, Windows Phone 8 will use more than one core processor. We’ll wait in Windows Phone Summit event in June 20th.
