TecTiles, that is the name of this “magic sticker”. This stickers can make a device has Near Field Communications (NFC) in an instant when use TecTiles.
This little sticker can be programmed to do several functions with just a stick on an object. Therefore, it is necessary to program TecTiles using Android applications. This application is available for free on Google Play.
“Samsung sees opportunities to expand the use of NFC beside mobile payment purposes only,” — Dale Sohn, president of Samsung Telecommunications America.
Samsung even confident claims TecTiles have the potential to change how a business is involved with its customers.
Stores that use use TecTiles for example, can be programmed to send a text tag, access the web page, open an application or perform other marketing functions.
TecTiles also be used for personal comfort. For example, TecTiles in the bedside table can programmed to change the phone settings to prevent the incoming call and disrupt users sleep. Just touching the phone to the stickers.
But TecTiles ability is still limited. TecTiles stickers can’t work on metal surfaces and for now only works for some NFC-enabled Android phone.
The cellphones can use TecTiles include Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy S II, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S 4G and Galaxy S Blaze 4G.
Samsung plans to sell TecTiles in bundling, online, or directly at the carriers stores that distribute their cell phone in US for $15.
